Canada caregiver amount

If you support someone with a physical or mental impairment, you may be able to claim the Canada caregiver amount.

| Infirm child under 18 | $2,740 |
| Infirm spouse, or eligible dependant 18 or older | $2,740 added to that amount |
| Other infirm dependant 18 or older | Up to $8,773 |
The maximum for an adult dependant starts falling when their net income passes $20,601.
The CRA may ask for a statement from a medical practitioner. You do not need one for a person already approved for the disability tax credit.
