Tax Guide/Income

Employment income and your T4

Updated November 4, 2026

Your employer reports your pay on a T4 slip, normally issued by the end of February. For 2026 slips, the deadline is March 1, 2027.

Box 14 is your employment income and box 22 is the tax already deducted. Your CPP and EI appear in other boxes, and they flow to credits or deductions on your return.

Taxable benefits, such as personal use of a company car, are included in your income even though no cash reached you.

If you had more than one job, you may owe tax at filing, because each employer withheld tax as if it were your only income. Tap a box on the sample slip below to see what it means.
