Changing a filed return

Do not file a second return. Wait for your Notice of Assessment, then ask for a change:
- Change my return in My Account
- ReFILE through your tax preparer
- Form T1-ADJ by mail
You can generally ask about any of the past 10 calendar years. Keep supporting documents ready, because the CRA may ask for them.
If you left something out
The Voluntary Disclosures Program may reduce penalties and interest if you come forward before the CRA contacts you and the disclosure meets its conditions. A correction or disclosure is much better when made promptly. Get professional advice first.
