Notice of Assessment

Updated November 4, 2026

After processing your return, the CRA sends a Notice of Assessment (NOA). It shows:

  • Your assessed income and tax
  • Your refund or balance owing
  • Your RRSP deduction limit
  • Other amounts, such as carryforwards

Compare it with what you filed. If it does not match, read the explanation. An assessment is not a guarantee: the CRA can generally review an individual's return for 3 years from the original assessment date, and longer in some situations.

Keep your NOA. Lenders and benefit programs often ask for it. You can view it anytime in My Account.
